Description: ***I also have listed a great little Hill Country bluebonnet scene that I hate to part with by Ella Mehwinney...records over $20,000*** This auction is for a HUGE 30"x 40" fantastic antique 1940's oil on canvas painting that was painted by early hill country landscape artist Arthur B. Jeffrys.. It needs a fair amount of TLC, I will say that at first glance it seems there is more paint missing than there actually is, If you look closely there is a fair bit of white/gesso that the artist INTENTIONALLY left unpainted for effect...this can be seen lower right corner and around the borders of SOME not all of the clouds. On the other areas of actual paint chipping/losses...surprisingly the remaining paint seems to be stuck to the canvas quite well and pretty stable..I can't be sure but most of the damage seems like it was stored where something was able to rub against the surface and scrape the paint off in places....but once restored/framed this will be an impressive thing to hang on the wall. I hope somebody out there sees the potential in this and fixes it up...that was my plan many years ago but sadly im not going to get around to it anytime soon so on to a new home it goes:) Im not 100% certain but I think I still have the old frame this came in but it was loose at the corners and is now fully apart in 4 pieces and needs refitting.
