Inscribed by the author on the FFEP. Very good book in very good minus dust jacket. First edition, first printing. Navy blue cloth covered boards with Hoover's facsimile signature gilt-stamped on front board panel, gilt-stamped lettering and graphics on spine. Illustrated with nine b&w photos, including frontispiece. Outermost edges are lightly sunned. Faint scuffs on board panels. Edges at head and tail of board spine are softened and curled and with small bumps on the corners. Fore-edge corners are lightly scuffed and slightly turned in. Shallow bump on the lower end of back board panel, with corresponding slight indent on external page edges. External page edges are age-toned. Dust jacket is yellowed and a bit soiled overall. Spine is sunned. Loss across edges and corners at head of jacket spine. All folds are creased and scuffed. Front spine fold has a 3/4" closed vertical tear along the fold at lower end, and a 5/8" closed vertical tear at the upper end adjacent to loss on front corner. Upper front panel has a 1/2" closed vertical tear toward the right corner and a 1/4" closed vertical tear toward the left corner. Lower edge of front jacket has a 5/16" closed vertical tear and a 1/8" closed vertical tear with a connecting 2 1/2" connecting horizontal crease. Several smaller closed tears and chips along upper and lower panels. Both corners of the front inside flap are clipped, but price of $5.00 is intact.
