Description: “Herty” Turpentine Clay Pot Early 1900's THIS LISTING IS FOR ONE POT. I HAVE LISTED THE LOT OF 5 AS A SEPARATE LISTING. These clay pots were used to collect pine sap in the early 1900's for the production of turpentine, resin, pitch & tar primarily for the naval stores industry. My grandfather worked in the turpentine industry in NE FL and SE GA. I obtained the pots from my grandfather who said he got them from his father or found them while working in the forestry industry. Size approx. 7" tall and 5 3/4" diameter, weigh nearly 3 lbs. each. Each pot is unique and will have various imperfections from the manufacturing process, age and use.
