DESCRIPTION: For sale is this wonderful early 20th century, most likely post-Prohibition, Harvard Brewing Company, Lowell, Massachusetts red and black ink stamped sidewall ale and beer advertising wood box shipping crate, featuring nailed corners, built-in, side carrying/lifting handles, tin corner reinforcing stacking strips, with naturally aged wood color in a dry, matte wood finish. This wonderful and fairly scarce wood box beer advertising crate was produced by the Harvard Brewing Company, from Lowell, Massachusetts, has still terrific two-color, red and black ink stamped sidewalls, in which all four sides of the box were stamped. It features all wood construction and a wood plank floor. There are no broken boards or repairs (old or new) made to the box. The red and black ink are original to the box and there's been no 'in-painting' and fortunately, the wood box crate has not been lacquered or varnished, sometimes done to wooden crates to enhance the color and intensity of the ink. The box was once covered in a white chalk, which easily came off after careful and gentle cleaning with a soft brush and a damp sponge. Absolutely terrific. CONDITION:Good to Very Good overall vintage condition.
