Description: These are handcrafted wall display shelves with useful hanging hooks. The shelf is 18" long by 5-1/2" wide. Overall shelf height is 9". Depth is 5-1/2". These shelves are made from pine wood that is sustainably salvaged from a facility that recycles bed frames. Each piece of 2-1/2 " wide pine wood is cleared of metal, edge joined with a table saw, planed, edge routed, biscuit joined, filled, sanded, assembly glued and given multiple coats of satin paint. D-hangers are installed, and 20lb picture hanging tacks are provided. Each shelf has 3 coat hangers installed. These are great for hanging everything from keys to coats. The listing photos show some ideas of what you can use them for. And yes, the model of the submarine, the USS Robert E. Lee, SSBN601, is the first boat I served on in 1964.These shelves are made by hand with mostly vintage tools that I have collected from Habitat for Humanity stores, yard sales, and DIY projects over the last 50 years. They are not made with a CNC or laser guided machine as you might expect from Chinese imports, or with fancy, expensive tools you see being used by You Tube influencers. My oldest power tool is a 1950 Craftsman bandsaw that I rescued from Habitat and rebuilt. My oldest hand tool is a 1920's combination square my father gave me. Each shelf is final hand-sanded to 220-grit, primed, and either spray-painted or brush painted. If you have a different color you would prefer, take a look at my store. There will be different colors shown in separate listings. The brush-painted colors are from paints I find at my local Habitat store. The sprayed colors are selected from the Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultracover paint selection. I will do a custom color for you if you pick one from Rust-Oleum's website. Just email me right after you purchase one, and I will see if I can find it at our local Home Depot. Please be aware that these shelves, though well-made, are not perfect. When working with salvaged pine wood, you simply cannot expect to get fine finishes or perfect joinery. The colors that you see in the photos are very close to what you will get. However, many factors can influence photography, especially when it gets uploaded to the internet. If you are really unhappy with what you get, I will be glad to work with you to resolve any concerns you might have. In years past I have done 1000's of eBay sales and have always maintained 100% positive feedback. My goal with the sale of these shelves is to be able to afford to continue to repair and refinish fine, but damaged furniture, which I then donate to non-profit organizations for resale by them. Another goal is to enjoy woodworking in a sustainable way. The materials I salvage to build these would either be burnt as firewood, or more likely, wind up in a landfill. Making these takes some time and effort, but I enjoy doing it. I hope you will enjoy them too.
