The '61-style SG model boasts high playability with its thin solid mahogany double-cutaway body and slim-tapered neck shape, lightweight, and smooth fingering even in high positions. As the model name suggests, the SG Standard '61 Sideway Vibrato Roller is the SG Standard '61 with the unique sideway vibrato device added to other models in the early 60s. It has a slim-taper mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard, deeply carved body sides, 5-ply teardrop pickguard, and 22-fret neck joint. In addition to the sideway vibrato, the classic Tune-O-Matic bridge and Keystone tuners are made of vintage-inspired nickel parts. The pickups are equipped with "Burstbucker 61" pickups. The Burstbucker 61 pickups are characterized by their clear sound, and even the drive channel produces distortion with just the right amount of power. Of course, the pickguard is a small guard!
