Description: WebVinyl Presents! Gene Ammons “Blue Groove” Original 1982 First U.S. First Pressing Stereo 33-1/3 RPM Vinyl 12” Previously Unreleased 1962 Sessions Soul Jazz Record Album! No Reserve! DESCRIPTION Gene Ammons - “Blue Groove” Prestige Records MPP-2514 (Stereo) from 1982. Hard to find Original U.S. First Pressing Soul Jazz album from Gene “Jug” Ammons. Previously Unreleased Session from April 27, 1962 and featuring Clarence “Sleepy” Anderson plus unknown guitar, bass and drums. Unlike many “rediscovered” recordings, this is from an actual Studio Session, not just a jam or blowing session. First Pressing on the Lime Green Prestige Labels with a Sky Blue Logo and in the Original Cover with no Cutouts, promo markings or Barcode. CONDITION The Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some fairlly slight shelf wear and corner softening / wear. Super solid with no cutouts, writing, splits, stains, tears, etc. and would rate VG. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition looking pretty close to Unplayed. Are a couple light scuffs but close to New condition however… there are a bunch of marks, mostly on the second side. I think they are just difference in the color of the vinyl or a variation in the pressing but it is possible they are some sort of scuff. Whatever they are, they don’t affect play in any way. Would be EX visually and is still VG+ and plays pretty much perfectly Near MInt. The labels are Near Mint. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them.
