Description: SET OF SIX FRENCH OAK AND COGNAC STITCHED-AND-STUDDED LEATHER DINING CHAIRS Circa early 20th century Item # 308ZOG16A A rich and wonderful set of six dining chairs, they feature wonderful solid oak frames with heavy patinated leather upholstery. The chair backs are slung with two cuts of saddle leather backed up to one another and stitched along the four sides to create a very strong and flexible support. This is then attached to the frame with these wonderful custom machined brass studs. The large circular stud is turned with a gentle bevel to the edge and has darkened over time from exposure to the air. The over-stuffed seat is designed from the same saddle leather, but this is made more comfortable and supportive by webbing and stuffing the seat instead of using the sling method of the chair back. The same oversized studs were then tapped in around the sides of the frame to lock the leather to the chair. Flanking the seat on either side are these delightful undulating arms with wonderful sculpting, all carved entirely from solid oak and raised over an integral arm-support/leg with an ogee edge on all sides - the same fluting to the corners is found on the back legs as well and all of the legs join vertically through the base stretchers for an incredibly firm structure. It is hard to find visually compelling sets like this with a great sense of age and patina while having such great form. Measurements: 39 1/4" H x 25 1/4" D x 24 3/8" W x 19" H to seatCondition Report: Chair frames are very handsomely worn throughout to create an even and natural overall patina; gentle silky glow to the oak; scuffs and scratches from use as expected, though most have oxidized and joined the surface attractively; heavily worn leather with sticker marks on a few chair backs, cracking to a few seats and some stitches opening up in a few areas on the chair backs; the leather is absolutely enjoyable exactly how it is and no repairs are required; the chairs are sturdy, strong and very comfortable/supportive. FREIGHT SHIPMENTS We offer economical and speedy freight service for most locations in the lower 48 States via the major LTL freight carriers. Delivery is generally 5-10 business days after packing is complete for the East Coast and 15-20 business days after packing is complete for the West Coast. Rush service is available so just contact us for a quote if there is a project deadline. The Process:The item is professionally packaged by our in-house team, palletized and shipped on a tractor trailer. Packing happens on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays so if your purchase comes through on a Wednesday, it may not be packed until the following Tuesday depending on our packing schedule. We release the palletized shipment to the LTL freight firm and upload tracking information to your orderOnce the freight has made it to the terminal nearest to your home, the dispatch team will notify the buyer and schedule a delivery day. The buyer is then required to make the necessary arrangements to receive and inspect the goods. Some freight firms will offer a delivery window while others will require the buyer or a representative for the buyer to be available the entire day. Please note, drivers are never allowed to call the buyer to update them on an expected delivery time, though it may be possible for the buyer to call the terminal and get a rough idea on updated timing throughout the day.On delivery day, the tractor trailer will arrive at the residence and the truck driver will lower the palletized shipment to the nearest curb with a lift-gate where the buyer will then be responsible for bringing it into the home, unpacking and disposing of the packing materials. If you require a higher level of service (i.e brought up the driveway and into the garage, brought into the entryway of the home, etc.) just contact us for a quote.
