The top plate is round and measures 5 7/8" diameter and has two bolts 4 1/4" apart. It also has a hole in middle.. Fully extended the top plate is just about 45 1/2" high, without extension it is 27" high. I've taken it apart (mounting plate) Easy to put back. I did this to reduce shipping cost.
