Description: Ferdinand Roth Eb Baritone Rothphone SN 39 FULL OVERHAUL THE HISTORIC COLLECTION PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Here's a VERY RARE Botalli Bb Baritone Rothphone in fully overhauled condition. The Rothphone is an intriguing piece of musical history. An offshoot of the sarrusophone, these are essentially a sarrusophone wrapped like as saxophone and have a unique sound like an oboe crossed with a saxophone. They take a double reed (not included), although single-reed adaptations do exist. There are not that many of these around, and they are a unique horn for your arsenal. Fingering is nearly identical to the saxophone - the only substantial difference is that it has three manual octave keys instead of an automatic octave key. Provenance: The Historic Collection. This is from the collection of a well-known researcher and historian of woodwinds who spent a lifetime collecting rare and unique instruments. We are privileged to offer items from this collection for sale. Condition-wise, this instrument is excellent. It has just been completely overhauled by Carlo Sbisa and plays great! Bocal is not original but is a modern reproduction. Plays well in tune at A-440 with a very even scale. Takes a baritone Rothphone reed (of course) but you can make a contrabassoon reed work.
