When the Fukushima nuclear incident happened in Japan in 2011, EVH moved their Japanese assembly to China. The specials from that era all came with US necks (as evidenced by the stainless steel frets) and US pickups due to mixing up stock.That being the history, the guitar plays really well. I’ve owned the MIM version and have sold to retain this one. Now that I’ve finally saved up for a MIA version, this one now hits the market.Original pup selector was moved to accommodate a kill switch. Kill switch works but is scratchy, probably just needs some contact cleaner, but I never use it.
