The system memory capacity presented to the OS is the amount of Optane memory. Generally, memory usage beyond the DRAM capacity will write to the Optane modules, which is roughly a few factors slower than DRAM, but orders of magnitude faster than NVMe. The benefit to the user is a great increase in virtual memory capacity at a price point far below DRAM. In the present configuration, the NVRAM/DRAM capacity ratio is 8 (6TB/768GB), although this can be changed up or down depending on your needs.
