While with the Air Force, Colonel Kaufman worked on contracting and systems acquisition with the Air Force Logistics Command, the Air Force Systems Command, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He was responsible for managing Air Force contracts executed by Air America. He has 5 1/2 years of assignments involving Southeast Asia Special Projects and 7 years on the Air Force Space Program. His military decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with nine Campaign Stars.
