Original wood frame measures 37.5” x 27.5”. Signed "Paul Grimm" on the lower left corner. Signed and titled on the back of the canvas as well. Paul Grimm (1891-1974) was born to German parents in South Africa in 1891, then moved with his parents to the United States as a small child. Grimm gained fame by painting landscapes of southern California. Many works depict alluvial fans and desert vegetation. The San Jacinto Mountains appear frequently in his work. Most of his paintings are oil on canvas. He had a studio on Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs from the 1950s until his death in 1974. His work is held by Palm Springs Art Museum, Picerne Arizona Landmark Collection at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum (Wickenburg, Arizona), and the Irvine Museum. From a California private collection. Purchased from artist in Palm Springs c.1965.
