FIRST CAME "HOLIDAY HOUSE", A SUMMER RETREAT FOR GIRLS WHO WERE MEMBERS OF THE GIRLS' FRIENDLY SOCIETY OF MASSACHUSETTS ... ESTABLISHED by Concord, MA's Rev Hutch at his Broadview Farm in Milford, NH in 1896. In the early 1900s, a second building was erected at the same property: RESTCROFT. Smaller in size than its "sister" Holiday House, it was to serve as a summer convalescent home/ hospital for invalid girls belonging to the same group. There was a chapel on site as well. Both houses served as a summer vacation retreat for girls belonging to the Girl's Friendly Society ... the goal: good board, fresh air, and amusements at a moderate price.
