Inside the case is a quality wood cleaning rod of the type that would accompany a better grade shotgun, a metal container of oil, a English cleaning patch loop marked "JE", and the key to the Cheney lock.The barrel space is about 24-1/2" long. The ends are not square and the total length would be about 26-1/4". The space for the receiver is about 22" maximum length and 5-1/2" wide. It's narrow at one end and has a tapered block to for the butt at the other end. The case is in very good condition. It's well-used but not damaged. The leather is good, not dry or cracked. The dark red interior is in good shape, with the usual general soiling but no stains or spots worn-through. The locking latch works.The outside measures 32" x 9" x 3-3/8".The oil container is by the noted metalsmith James Dixon & Son of Sheffield, as marked on the bottom. It appears quite old, older vintage than the case. It's 1-1/4" diameter and about 2-1/4" tall. It contains oil.The cleaning rod shows little use.
