I do not use stock photos or photos of other people’s items.This is a nicely framed 8x10 Black and White Portrait of Red Skelton (1913-1997) dating from the 1940s which has been inscribed (but NOT personalized) in blue pen by the television, radio and movie star: "Best of luck, I dood it, Red Skelton". It comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity from dealer Robert Knoller. The catchphrase "I dood it" arose with Skelton character "The Mean Widdle Kid" or "Junior" introduced in the 1941 first season of his radio show The Raleigh Cigarettes Program. The less than grammatical phrase caught on nationwide, resulting in Newspaper headlines for Admiral Doolittle's successful bombing of Japan in 1942 "Doolittle Dood It". In 1943 a movie starring Skelton and Eleanor Powell was titled I Dood It. The autograph/inscription is bright and clear. At History For Sale they have several signed photos of Skelton, most are personalized, only one with "I dood it", ranging in price from $1,200.00 to $1,500.00.
