It was published by Jonathan Cape, of London and Toronto, in April 1939 (the FIRST EDITION was published in November 1931). The book measures 8 inches x 6 inches x 1.4 inches and has 453 pages (including illustrations), which are hand-cut to the bottom rims. The book is in good, neat condition for its age, with minor wear to the original cloth hardback cover, with a previous owner’s name on a book-plate at the front, a little foxing near the covers/rims, and no other ink or pencil markings in the book. The binding is used, with a twist to the spine, and no loose or missing pages. There is no dust-jacket. A wonderful, illustrated vintage edition.
