Description: Offered is a black houpette pli with powder blue dots made in France in the 1920s. The exterior is made from Galalith, an early type of plastic, while the powder puff is swans down. Made by Leon Svirsky and Alexandre Willk c. 1925-1930. Marked PLI S.D.G.D. Made in France. A houpette pli is a foldable powder puff ideal to carry in a purse. In French, houpette means “small puff “ and pli means “fold”. To reveal the puff you remove the top cap and push the base up. Small wires attached to the feather puff allow it to expand as it pops out of the tube. Loose powder was stored in the tube. Brevete SGDG was a French type of patent that ceased to exist in 1968. It comes with the original box and original paperwork. The box is worn as is the paperwork. The pli is in excellent vintage condition especially considering it is 100 years old. Approximately 3.25” long.
