Description: Up for sale is a very nice antique oil lamp made by the The Cleveland Non-Explosive Lamp Company in the 1870's. The lamp has some amazing patent dates and other various stampings. The brass has a wonderful mellow age patina and other than a few bumps and bruises, the lamp is in exceptionally good condition please review all pictures for details. The lamp is also weighted in the base. The lamp is about 9 1/2" tall to the top of the burner. You'll find lots of information on the top of the lamp. On the fill cap, it says: "Patented Nov. 24, 1867 - Extended Nov. 12, 1871." On the top on this side are three more patent dates: 1957, 1866 and 1871. Fortunately on this lamp is it is still very clear, - "Perkins and House Safety Lamp - Clev'd Non-explosive lamp Co. Cleveland and New York" This lamp has the original center draft flip top burner on it, unfortunately I am without the proper chimney with a flare lip fitter. There is another round of patent dates on the wick wheel as pictured. This lamp is spoken about in Thuro's book 1 on pages 190-191 and the one pictured on page 191 is said to be from the 1870s and has the same style burner and chimney holder. The lamp stem is slightly bent, not crinkled and can be straightened but I don't attempt things like that. These lamps in this condition don't come along very often but have had the original burners swapped out with an E or No 0 burner.
