Description: A 5 inch tall cylinder-shaped light TURQUOISE AQUA MARINE colored antique PATENT (quack) BABY TEETHING SYRUP medicine bottle. The label on this bottle may or may not be original. For many years this bottle was part of an old Frontier Town drug store display that was shut down and sold off. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM), blown in a HINGE MOLD dating it back to the 1860's! Bottle embossed: "MRS. WINSLOWS / SOOTHING SYRUP / CURTIS & PERKINS / PROPRIETORS." Important note: The labels covers up most of the embossing but you can feel and read the embossing under the label and read it through the areas that are not covered by the label. Condition: This bottle is in excellent clean condition with just some traces of content haze or wear. It has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Please see pictures for good idea of overall look. Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold (BIM) bottle with a rolled lip and has the HINGE MOLD seam going down the center of the base (seen in picture of base), ca. mid-late 1800's. Shipping: FREE domestic shipping. We do ship Internationally but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time. Research done on this product leads me to believe that the "Mrs. Winslow" whose name is on this bottle, was Mrs. Charlotte N. Winslow, and it was her, Charlotte Winslow, that originally concocted this product. Sketchy research shows that it was possibly her son-in-laws, whose last names were Curtis and Perkins, that originally sold this concoction and are the proprietors named on the bottle. The original formula contained morphine or opium, no wonder that it effectively quieted restless infants and small children. Many babies overdosed on the product and died and others unknowingly became addicted to it. Note that this example comes with the label on it. The label on this example just has the directions, NO ingredients, as that was often just listed on the wrapper these bottles came in. The label on this bottle may or may not be original. For many years this bottle was part of an old Frontier Town drug store display that was shut down and sold off. The label does NOT mention OPIUM or MORPHINE, this example was put out before the formation of the Pure Food and Drug Administration and the proprietors did NOT have to divulge the narcotic ingredient. Once this administration was in place and started policing the patent medicine industry, the manufacture's had to divulge (on the label) any narcotic content in a product, which deterred many possible customers. From there, companies could no longer even produce products with a narcotic ingredient and once this product lost its morphine/opium ingredient, it lost its ability to sooth babies to sleep and eventually disappeared from the market. A really nice original example of a good early one here, check it out! Terms of Sale: Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction.
