Description: ITEM: An early 20th-century lacquered wooden writing box from Japan. Nicely hand-painted scene on the lid in gold and white depicts four scholars gathering around a table outdoors with buildings and trees in the background. Lid opens on two metal hinges. Original paper price label on the bottom. About 7-7/8" x 2-1/4". Displays very nicely. CONDITION: Exterior lacquer and painting are in good antique condition. The walls that divided the interior into compartments are gone. See photos for all details.
