Description: Antique late 19th century Japanese clay pottery tapestry mid size teapot made by Banko; excellent craftsmanship. Very hard to make tapestry clay, as the artisan will have to make individual clay, put them together, cut them in thin flat pieces before shaping it into the article. Some clays were shaped as flowers or circles of waves. This teapot is decorated with waves and great craftsmanship. The lid also swivels. 4 1/2 inches wide including handle and spout, and 4 inches tall including lid. Marked under the handle, "Banko", also has artist mark as well. Excellent condition.
