Description: These two stunning pieces of history Circa 1901 are a very intricate, hand-painted porcelain platter and saucer set. They are marked with a green Limoges France stamp with an arrow pointing left and a blue mark which reads B&T Limoges France inside of a blue circle. The scalloped motif throughout the edges of each piece is raised and trimmed in gold against a pastel peach-colored background which fades inward to the cream-colored center. Part of the outer edge is evergreen-colored with raised gold beading inside gold crisscrossed shaped designs. There are purple and pink flowers with purple buds and green stems and leaves. Every flower and leaf are outlined with gold trim. There are small and large gold leaves and stems with the larger gold leaves having raised gold edges. Some of the stems are raised and painted gold. The platter measures 12 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches tall. The saucer measures 6 inches in diameter and 13/16 inches tall. They show some slight aging when looking very closely. On the platter face, there are a couple of worn areas of paint on the pink flowers and a slight worn area of gold paint on one of the gold leaves. There are superficial scratches on the cream-colored inside (barely noticeable.) There is an imperfection of a slight ingrained speck of red which could have happened during the molding process. In the saucer face, there are tiny dark specks from the iron content in the porcelain which occurred during the molding process. This was not uncommon during in this time period and actually adds to the aesthetics of the piece. The platter and saucer both have some rough areas of wear on the bottom rim. I have closely inspected each piece for flaws and mentioned all that I could find. These flaws certainly do not affect the aesthetic aspect of the pieces.
