Description: For sale is a nice small vase made by Derby in the early 19th century . I haven't seen many like this with the white ground and nice gilding as the blue ground vases are much more common. Really liked the look of it! The piece is hand painted with a nice scene to the front including a building on top of a cliff that looks to be white like the ones near Dover with the water and some greenery as well. The rest of the piece has lots of fancy gilding to it and two nice handles that also have some gilding to them. The back of the vase was left white. The piece is in good condition with a firing crack under one of the handles, a short dark line by the other handle, one of the tips of the handles has been reglued but its not obvious at all, a small chip to a corner of the base and the base has some crazing to it with some staining but not bad. A few tiny spots of paint flaking mostly right under the house in the scene. The gilding is in great shape which is extra nice but there is some wear to the lower parts! The underside is marked with the red D under a crown mark as shown and there is a tiny red 7 mark as well. I know William Billingsley has that as his painter's mark so this might have been done by him which is really exciting. The vase is 8.25 inches tall, 4.75 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep.
