Description: This remarkable map of New York City, Brooklyn, Jersey City, and Hoboken. I am not sure what Atlas this was published in. It is simular like exactly the same that was issued as part of Ormando W. Gray’s “Atlas of the United States with General Maps of The World Accompanied by Descriptions Geographical, Historical, Scientific and Statistical”. O.W. and various partners published atlases from around 1871 – 1889. Wonderfully precise hand-coloring he and his firm turned out. // Sold online for over $300. Will be shipping flat.Key points in this map are the Old and New Resvevor, Bloomingdale Square and other small parks near Central Park before they were developed. Very Cool window into a time almost forgotten. I have a number of maps that were loose and listing them in groups by state or city. They range in date from the late 1800's to early 1900's Most are engraved and many of them are hand colored like this one. It's a time consuming task to identify each map as best as I can.
