Antique Chinese Ming Period Porcelain / Ceramic Jarlet from Penang, Malaysia

Description: This is an original Porcelain / Ceramic Peony Jarlet from China produced during the Late Ming Period. This type of porcelain was produced in China principally for export to the large number of Chinese Communities scattered through Southeast Asia and is sometimes called Chinese Trade Pottery. The piece dates from the 17th Century and was purchased by my father & myself in Penang, Malaysia during the period he owned an Asian antique shop on the island in the 1970's to early 1980's. He only purchased from reputable local dealers who sourced their inventory from locals living on the island. Please note wonderful glaze of the Jarlet as well as its decorative crackle. Due to the durable nature of these small jarlets in most cases there is little damage due to age. Please review the pictures thoroughly in regards to the overall quality of this item and make particular reference to my Condition Description above & below: Condition Description: Would rate the Jarlet's Condition Overall as Good - there are no visible damage cracks to the body of Jarlet. There is however a small 1/3 of an inch Rim chip on the side of the mouth opening as well as a couple of small cracks underneath the mouth of the Jarlet. There are also a number of kiln bumps on the outside of the piece. Overall this piece has quite a bit of crackle adding to its allure & originality. Dimensions: 2 3/4 inches high & 3 1/8 inches wide.
