The San Bush People are the oldest inhabitants of Southern Africa and ostrich eggshell beads are considered among the earliest ornaments created by Homo Sapiens and represent some of the most ancient made beads. Archaeologists have traced their origins back to the Late Pleistocene period, with evidence suggesting they were first crafted as early as 75,000 years ago in Africa.
