Fruit ripening proceeds over a long time period, and fruit clusters will remain into the winter, after foliage has dropped. These plants like average well drained soil, but does better with ample moisture. We will cut them very hard in spring, down to 8-12", which seems to enhance their density and fruit production. This plant occurs naturally from Florida,north to Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and northern Mexico. Zones 7-10. Zone 6 with protection.
