A Signed Andy Davis Handmade Pulled Feather 35 MM = 1-5/16" Dia Art Glass Marble

Description: OUR DESCRIPTION A SPLENDID and Creative Andy Davis Handmade Pulled Feather (35 MM = 1-5/16" Diameter) Art Glass Marble. It is a One-Of-A-Kind Handmade Marble by Andy in 4 Beautiful colors Red, Yellow, Blue and Gray. What's really nice about this marble is you get a chance to see 3 different types of designs that Andy did, you get the Pulled Feather and a touch of the Snake Skin Design as well as a touch of his Fancy Swirl design and all packed into one marble. I consider this Lovely Marble of Andy's to be in Very Good Condition even with the "As Made" few popped air bubbles at the surface that Andy chose to let go and please see all pictures for more details. Many of Andy's marbles are personally signed with lower case "ad" like this one here. He also signs the clear base on the bottom with AD hot stamped in it. This is a lovely size contemporary marble that Measures Approximately 35 MM and or 1-5/16" in Diameter, please see last picture for Digital Caliper LCD Display Measurement. The entire motif consists of a 4 wonderful Red, Yellow, Blue and Gray Colors in this Fancy Pulled Feather Marble. The pictures do not do this Marble justice and it is much better seen in person and up close. I consider this Lovely Marble to be in Very Good Original Condition with exceptions of the tiny popped air bubbles at the surface which was caused during the creation cooling process. The pontil mark is fire polished smooth. Short History: Andy DavisThe Davises are West Virginia's first Family of Marble makers. His Father Jim began making marbles in 1991 after years in the glass making industry, and in 1990's his 5 brothers and himself began to join their father in the marble making business. His brothers Steve and Rick would continue on to make the vast majority of the marbles. Andy Davis was born in 1926 in Harrisville, West Virginia. At the age of 16, he began working for Mid-Atlantic Glass Co. In 1956, he moved to Ohio and joined a steel company, where he worked until his retirement in 1990. Five years later, in 1995, Andy built his own furnace and started crafting beautiful handmade marbles. By 1996, he expanded his craft to include spinning tops and bases for displaying them. In 2008, JABO Marble Company began producing special contract runs of 3/4" marbles, incorporating materials like gold lutz, silver, metallic, oxblood, and Aventurine, depending on investors' preferences. Andy took cullet from these runs and began making large, colorful 2" marbles and matching top sets, which quickly gained attention for their beauty and craftsmanship. Unfortunately Andy Passed away at the age of 95 on April 28th, 2022. ABOUT ME I am first and foremost a collector of many different types of antiques.
