Sterno cans contain a gel-type fuel, and the can has an open hole in the top (approximately 2 inches in diameter). The Bakers and Chefs Safe Heat cans are filled with a liquid fuel (9.24 ounces), and they have a wick sealed into the top of the can. This is why you can get at least 6 to 7 hours of burn time out of a can of the Bakers and Chefs Safe Heat (sometimes I can get close to 8 hours), but the Sterno cans last only 1 to 2 hours.Having a wick also means that these cans produce a steady, controlled flame, whereas the cans of Sterno do not. I have used both types of fuel cans, and these are much better than the Sterno fuel. Hard to find! Only saw ONE seller a while back when I was researching this item (late 2015) who had 8 cans and he sold the first 4 cans for $24.50 plus shipping.
