Description: Knife Blade seen in pictures NOT included These handles are designed to fit Kiwi Knives, specifically the 6.5" bunka/nakiris (171/172).It is recommended that you already have a method to remove the original Kiwi handles. Most people drill out the rivets.It is highly recommended to have some kind of thin file (< 0.90mm ) in case you need to slightly expand the opening. These handles are 3D printed with wood filament that contains approximately 10-30% wood depending on the color and maker of the filament. The rest of the percentage is plastic. The entire handle is printed in one piece. These handles are printed inside my own home with consumer grade equipment, just to set some expectations. Filament 3D printers will have a seam line that travels upwards depending on the orientation that the model is printed. These handles are printed standing up. Usually these seam lines are hidden in the corners of the models, but because the oval handle does not have any corners, there will be an obvious seam line that you can see in one of the pictures. You can have the seam line facing down when installing the handle to reduce visibility. The seam line is not so obvious on the hexagon handles. Every handle is made to order once you place the order. This means that you will be receiving a freshly 3D printed handle. Each handle weighs close to 40g. VERY IMPORTANT: Tape the knife edge with something like painter's tape before attempting to install the handle to prevent injury. Safety first. DO NOT PUT IN DISH WASHER. The tang opening on the handle measures approximately 21.5mm x 0.92 mm. This is a very tight fit which may take 10 minutes struggling and filing to fully insert the knife. . This is by design to secure the knife and avoid potential injuries due to play in the blade fitment.There is an option for a cutout for inserting hot glue to secure the tang better. See pictures.
