Description: 2024 SARRACENIA SEEDS: COURTII (JA) X (ALATA RED X FLAVA) [CARNIVOROUS PLANT SEED] Code: 293: 24HH07 This listing includes: One pack of approximately 30 Sarracenia seeds from the following cross: Mother (pod) plant: S. courtii (purpurea × psittacina) [sourced from Jerry Addington] A courtii sourced from the master courtii breeder, Jerry Addington of Courting Frogs Nursery. Has a strange and unique shape compared to other, more typical Sarracenia. Gets extremely dark in the fall and winter. Retains its pitchers for a very long time. Father (pollen) plant: S. alata Red x flava Starts red and quickly darkens to a very deep, dark maroon, almost black. Pitchers last a long time. It has a great alata-influenced shape. Makes pitchers all season long thanks to its mixed seasonality genetics. 1st picture shows the two parent plants. 2nd picture shows the mother (pod) parent. 3rd picture shows the father (pollen) parent. 4th picture shows an example of the seeds you will get (not the quantity). 5th picture shows an example of how I bag my Sarracenia flowers in the spring. This cross was made in the Spring of 2024 and the seeds were harvested when ripe later in the same year. The cross was done carefully by hand. All manual crosses had bagged flowers to avoid any unwanted pollen contamination by nature. After harvest and drying, the seeds have been stored dry in the fridge to maximize longevity and viability. These seeds have NOT been stratified. You will need to do that yourself.
