Description: 2023 SARRACENIA SEEDS CATESBAEI X FLAVA RUGELII [CARNIVOROUS PLANT SEED] Code: 41: 23HF13 This listing includes: One pack of approximately 30 Sarracenia seeds from the following cross: Mother (pod) plant: S. catesbaei [Sumatra, FL] Father (pollen) plant: S. flava var. rugelii For this cross, I used a catesbaei that I have been growing for 15 years! It is super reliable and flowers like crazy each spring. It has some bright red in the throat and a rather large and floppy hood. It makes pitchers all throughout the growing season. To compliment the red in the throat, I pollinated it with my brightest flava var. rugelii. This flava variety is known to have a bright, eye catching red throat splotch. This is an exciting catesbaei backcross which will result in flava dominant offspring and some of them will have some truly outstanding red in the throat. 1st picture shows the two parent plants. 2nd picture shows the mother (pod) parent. 3rd picture shows an example of the seeds you will get (not the quantity). 4th picture shows an example of how I bag my Sarracenia flowers in the spring. This cross was made in the Spring of 2023 and the seed were harvested in Fall of 2023. The cross was done carefully by hand. All manual crosses had bagged flowers to avoid any unwanted pollen contamination by nature. After harvest and drying in the Fall, the seeds have been stored dry in the fridge to maximize longevity and viability. I have been growing Sarracenia for 15 years and my goal is to make quality seeds and plants affordable to anyone that is interested in growing these amazing plants.
