Despite all the new (and old) inventions at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., the top exhibits for youngsters are animals. This African bush elephant is an example. When he was alive in Angola in Africa this elephant weighed 12 tons and stood 13 feet, 2 inches high. He was killed on November 13, 1955. He was between 65 and 100 years old and compared in size to the mastodon of the Ice Age. Photo measures 6.5 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 11-21-1966.
