Description: 1965 Press Photo NASA Gemini-4 Spacecraft Retrieval USS Wasp Aircraft Carrier PHOTO DESCRIPTION: The Gemini-4 spacecraft is hoisted aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp after completing 62 revolutions of the earth. Astronauts James A. McDivitt, command pilot, and Edward H. White II,pilot, had been recovered by helicopter earlier and were already aboard the Wasp. The space flight took 97 hours and 56 minutes. The Gemini-4 crew performed as series of scientific and engineering experiments while in orbital flight. During the third revolution Astronaut White egressed the spacecraft and spent 21 minutes in space.
