Description: 1960's Hand colored print of Marche aux Fleurs at La Madeleine in Paris. This delightful hand colored lithograph print of the flower market at the Madeleine in Paris was imported by Burdines Department Stores in the mid 1960's. It is signed in the print by the artist S. Valli and titled by hand in pencil Paris - La Madeleine et le marche aux fleurs on the bottom left side. The underside of the print has a purple French export ink stamp that reads made in France with a star and coloriee a la main (colored by hand) and the original pink imported by Burdines Department store price sticker the left noting the year 66, department, code and original sale price of $2.00. This lovely old print hung in one of the guest rooms in my mother's south Florida house and has been in storage for many years. I have recently unframed and unmatted the piece for sale at our shop. The print measures 16" L x 13" W. This print will add a little Parisienne whimsey into any decor. CONDITION: THE OVERALL PRINT HAS YELLOWED WITH AGE AND THERE ARE A FEW SMALL WRINKLES / CREASES IN THE PAPER MOSTLY IN THE UNPRINTED AREA THAT DOES NOT AFFECT THE ARTWORK. THERE IS LIGHT SPOTTING AND THREE TAPE STAINS ALONG THE EDGES OF THE PRINT FROM THE PREVIOUS MOUNTING THAT WAS MADE WITHOUT ARCHIVAL TAPE. THE PRINT IS FURTHER DARKENED SLIGHTLY ALONG THE BARRIER OF THE ARTWORK WHERE THE PRINT WAS EXPOSED TO LIGHT AND NOT UNDER THE FRAMING MATTE.
