Description: An original 1960 UPI Photo with News release of the disabled Dutch Tanker(previously Norwegian registered) being towed to a New York port. From the Indianapolis Star 14 April 1960: "The oil-laden Dutch tanker ASTRID NAESS reported late yesterday a fire in her engine room in which seven crewmen were burned was under control and finished. The tanker was about 200 miles east of Cape Henry. The ship's master reported the seven men had been treated for their injuries in accordance with radioed instructions from the United States Public Health Service Hospital at Norfolk. The injured crewmen will be transferred to the British freighter OCEAN MONARCH, which had changed course and was expected to reach the Astrid at 7 p.m. The Ocean Monarch, which has a doctor aboard, will then proceed to New York. The Astrid's master said the Panamanian steamship Arkansas had reached the tanker and was standing by for radio communication and medical assistance. A Coast Guard plane from Brooklyn, N.Y., was circling above the Astrid. The 16,279-ton Astrid was en route to New York with a cargo of 24,000 tons of light crude oil." Tugs involved were E.F.MORAN and DIANA MORAN. SS Ocean Monarch was a British passenger ship NOT a freighter. Fast, safe & reasonably priced shipping, with tracking.
