Description: This edition of THE SKYLINE, Volume 5, Number 4 dated JUNE, 1944 was compiled during wartime..note "V" for Victory and peace dove on cover) by students from NORTH HOLLYWOOD JR. HIGH SCHOOL, NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA. (renamed WALTER REED MIDDLE SCHOOL IN 1957). Established in 1939, campus is still located at 4525 Irvine Ave., Studio City, CA. The interesting factor here is that there are NO PICTURES in this volume. The name SKYLINE is used on yearbooks in later years, but this 16 page, soft-cover contains only poems, short literary paragraphs, etc. primarily dealing with WAR issues. It's possible that with money and resources tight, photos and lists of the students were sacrificed. Obviously, I have no way of confirming this theory. Highlights are the gorgeous "linoleum block" (no wood??) artwork appearing on three pages...again with a War/Peace theme. Note the flags on the cars...my photo #3. Autographs appear on one page only. Found tucked inside was THE SKYLINE NEWS SUPPLEMENT dated May 12, 1944 which created the age toning, (Photo #2) and is included. Certainly a rare find for North Hollywood Jr. High School alumni!
