Description: Vintage 1925 ticket for the game between the Illinois Fighting Illini and the Ohio State Buckeyes played on 11/21/1925 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Illinois defeated Ohio St. 14-9 in front of a crowd of over 85,000 (2nd largest football attendance at the time) for Red Grange's last college game. Illini team captain Harold "Red" Grange also known as "The Galloping Ghost" played his final college game this day over 99 years ago. He was a 3 time consensus All-American at Illinois (the first unanimous All-American selection in history in 1924), led them to a National Championship in 1923. ESPN named Grange the best college football player of all time in 2008. After this game Red would go on to sign with the Chicago Bears and play for them on a barnstorming tour to help elevate the status of the NFL. At the time college football was king and the NFL was considered a far less product. Signing and showcasing the #1 college star in Grange, Halas and the Bears were able to help legitimize the NFL. Grange would then go on to play for the New York Yankees of the AFL for 1926 before they were brought into the NFL in 1927. Grange sat out 1928 due to a knee injury and then rejoined the Bears in 1929 where he played through the 1934 season. He then coached the Bear's backs for 3 seasons from 1935-1937. Red was a 2 time NFL champion (1932-33) with the Bears and a 2 time 1st-Team All-Pro (1930-1931). Red was inducted into both the College Football Hall of Fame as well as the NFL Hall of Fame.
