Description: Two PORTRAITS: 1920s Urban Military Academy Cadet & Woman Signed TYCKO L.A. 2 portraits individually framed: Oval Miniature Convex Frames FOUND as a PAIR ~ SOLD as a PAIR Color portraits under convex 'bubble' glassPortraits fitted and sealed inside miniature oval wall frames ~ all frame parts metal Frames are identical in size, measurements in photos Frames are complimentary in style, no hallmark foundcadet's frame with scroll designwoman's frame has feminine detail with addition of prong-set seed pearls** All frame parts are metal. **NOTE! seed pearls became popular during this era: may be faux, genuine or just beads Each 'seed pearl' has a subtle luster with no evidence of glue, crazing or peeling Portraits not examined outside of the frames ~ vintage convex frame is sealed. (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO or OPEN for RETURN) Portraits are likely hand-colored photographs, as Tycko is best known for his photography ~ I cannot find any color work by Tycko Portrait coloration exquisitely rendered throughout - not limited to the subject as typical of the era Portraits appear to be in excellent condition. Using a magnifying glass, I did not find tears, bends, ripples or irregular fade Subjects apparently quite well-to-do, considering Urban tuition was about $1250, the exquisite portrait art, and the quality of the frames with possible seed pearls Subjects' identities unknown ~ the woman resembles Clark Gable's 2nd wife 'Ria', who had a son from a prior marriage URBAN Cadet Cadet's identity unknown Cadet's portrait shows 'URBAN' on his uniform's right epaulet 'URBAN' relates to Los Angeles area schools of the era Urban (Military) Academy, with name variations, 1902-1959* Urban School 1902-1915 Melrose Blvd. at Wilcox, later 11600 Sunset Blvd Urban Military Day and Boarding School for Young Boys 1915-1924 800 S.
