Description: Plain Tales from the Hills. Plain Tales from the Hills (published 1888) is the first collection of short stories by Rudyard Kipling. Out of its 40 stories, "eight-and-twenty", according to Kipling's Preface, were initially published in the Civil and Military Gazette in Lahore, Punjab, British India, between November 1886 and June 1887. This edition has no date but there is an inscription on the inside that dates 1924. It was published by Kingsport Press in Kingsport, Tennessee. The fabric hardcover has faded and shows some age wear. The inside pages have light age wear but it still looks great for its age. It measures 6 ½” x 4 ¼” x 1” (approx.), contains 242 pages and weighs 6 oz. (approx.). (PLEASE READ – I’m elderly and can’t smell very well. All items come from estate, tag/yard sales, etc. so I don’t know if the previous owner was a smoker nor if they owned an animal.
