1918 Great German Offensive, R. Kipling, Lewis Gielgud, May Kendall, War Reports

Description: This is a hard to find 11 May 1918 Great War number of the Living Age (Boston weekly). A very good copy. 74th Anniversary issue includes full page letters in facsimile from President Woodrow Wilson and Senator Henry Cabot Lodge celebrating their continued publication. See photo #2 for complete contents. 65 pages. Some highlights I find include: Frederic Whyte contributes profiles of American President Woodrow Wilson and French President Raymond Poincare. Part V of J. Storer Clouston's serial novel The Spy in Black. Novel of war espionage and intrigue, it was made into a 1939 film. Rudyard Kipling's new verse, The Irish Guards. George A.B. Dewar's article headed "The Great German Offensive." This was to be the largest and last thrust that Germany would make against the Allies. They attacked over a fifty mile long front in a last effort to win the war. Six months later they would surrender. New verse from the pen of veteran Great War soldier and writer Lewis Gielgud, older brother to famed stage and film acter John Gielgud. His name is misspelled here "Gieloud." L. Cope Cornford's "The Freedom of the Seas." May Kendall's new story, "Cheriton's Farm."
