Description: Three $5 Dollar Confederate States of America (CSA) "Blue Back" Notes, Amazing Condition/Color Type 69 Circulated Richmond - February 17th, 1864 T-69: The five-dollar denomination of the 7th series of the currency of the Confederate States of America, issued in the latter part of the American Civil War. The Virginia State Capitol in Richmond is the center vignette. On the right is a portrait of C. G. Memminger, Confederate Secretary of the Treasury for most of the Civil War. Inscriptions:“Two years after the ratification of a treaty of peace between the Confederate States & the United States""The Confederate States of American will pay to the bearer Five Dollars""Litho by Evans & Cogswell/Engraved by Keatings & Ball Columbia SC”See photographs for Series, Numbers, Signatures, etc. Please feel free to request additional details. Fantastic condition/color, small corner creases, nicks, etc. consistence with its almost 160 years. Ink and other authenticators present, including tiny pin hole due to the fact that these notes were bundled together, and then band-pinned closed. Purchased at an auction at the historic Lauck Sisters' estate in the Shenandoah Valley in the 1970's.
