Description: Charles Bigler Spalding (1810-1871) born in Reading, Southern England Artist's alternative names: C. B. Spalding, Charles B. Spalding & Edward Hacker (1813-1905) artist/engraver Lithograph. 1 of 2 pieces listed separately on my site. Approximate Measurements: 9.5"×11.5" approximately including frame Charles Bigler Spalding was a painter of sporting and country scenes. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1840 and worked for the publisher S&J Fuller contributing a portrait of Satirist the 1841 winner of the great St Leger Stakes, Doncaster. He contributed 25 subjects to the Sporting Magazine Including scenes from India, although there is no evidence that Spalding ever visited India. He died in Southampton on the 10th of August 1871 Acquisition: I purchased this piece on a summer holiday 1994 in England at an antique fair. Please look at the pictures for accurate description and condition - I try to take a lot of pictures, but it’s difficult to capture the perfect lighting. The frame is inexpensive purchased approx. 1994.
