Description: This offer is for one 1783 Spanish Shipwreck Salvaged Silver 1/2 Real. Minted in Mexico, this historical silver coin was directly salvaged from the famous shipwreck El Cazador, the Spanish Brigantine of War, in 1993 off the coast of New Orleans. This coin was part of 450,000 pesos of newly minted silver coins that the then king Carlos III of Spain was sending from Mexico to Louisiana to support his failing paper currency. Louisiana was owned by Spain at that time. This coin along with the rest of the treasure never made it and sank in 1784 forcing King Carlos IV to sell / trade Louisiana to France in 1800. Only 3 years later the French Emperor Napoleon sold the entire Louisiana territory to President Thomas Jefferson through the Louisiana Purchase! This coin was originally attached to the information card in the photos but came loose. I am including the case with the card as well as the coin in a separate flip. The coin is 100% Guaranteed to be Authentic and Salvaged from the Shipwreck El Cazador. The picture showing the measurement with ruler shows numbers in CM. Weight is in Grams.
