He went to school in Port-au-Prince in College Bird where he completed his education. He started to paint when he was very young and in 1985 he participated in a contest at the Institute Francais d'Haiti where he won first prize as an emerging artist. A hyperrealist, Chanel's work is often recognized by the incredible details in his paintings. Whether it is the perfect reproduction of a street scene, the detailed worried face of an old man or the reality of the still life, Channel captures life as it is. With his brush, he recreates the passing moment with extraordinary precision. He has participated in many exhibitions in Haiti and worked as a graphic artist for UNICEF and IICA.
